Senior Lecturer P. Robert Beatty
Thursday 3:00-4:00, 107 Mulford Hall, Class number: 23180

This seminar will focus on viruses that originate in animal populations but can make the transition to cause disease in humans. We will discuss the SARS CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 and SARS CoV-1 but also discuss Ebola and other viruses that have caused human infections. The course will begin with lectures by the instructor to introduce virology and immunology. The remainder of the course will be group work and student-led discussions of specific scientific papers about these important viral pathogens.
